Want To Build A Niche Website?

by Jim Kukral on June 23, 2008

Today on the Daily Flip I talk with Kelly from TheHolisticOption.com. A niche site that operates on a publisher/subscription business model. Kelly provides great insight about how she started the site only 8 weeks ago is already selling ads.

We also talk about how her podcast is helping her promote the site to hundreds of new people a week, and other ways she markets the website online. A great interview to listen to if you want to know how to build a successful website and then market it.

I prefer openX or another adserver. As long as they are able to serve an advertisers tags through their adserver they should be good. A savvy advertiser should be using their own adserver (such as DFA, Dart for Advertisers) and have their own tags. They will give these tags to the publisher and tell them to serve it through the publisher's adserver. The ad call will redirect to the advertiser's server. This way the advertiser will rely on their own numbers for fulfillment.

However, as the industry consolidates they will need to migrate to a standard adserver and inventory tracking system. Which is good, it means they have grown and they are able to sell space to a bigger brand of advertiser.
