Kim, you will love my new brown loafers. I'll bring them to NYC.
Jim, just promise me you will not wear black socks with your brown loafers. See you in NYC!
Or worse, a pair of brown thongs with black socks!
That's what I'll wear for the opening remarks.
Very informative episode. While I love clever headlines, I've definitely seen them as a handicap in the eyeballs and ears they draw for blog posts and podcasts.
I used to go with all sorts of wordplay, but when I switched to clear, descriptive headlines, I doubled my audiences.
As far as the papers, I am an anomaly – I subscribe to two NYC papers (Post and Daily News) and read them both 7 days a week.
When I see a link to a story online to one of them, I never click through, because I want to enjoy the paper version.
While I like the Kindle for books, it's a whole different thing to sit out in the sun or enjoy my breakfast with a real paper.
Really enjoyed this episode!!
Missy – what was the talk that Brian gave where you learned the methods for your ,California Lawmakers to Stomp on Small Business Owners post? Is that a talk that is available on video or a podcast somewhere?
He gave a presentation at the last PubCon in Austin on writing headlines that rock. I don't think it was videotaped but maybe if you contact him he'd be open to sharing the presentation? http://www.copyblogger.com/contact/
