Tattoos, Gmail, and the Best Theme for WordPress

by Shawn Collins on February 25, 2009

Episode 53 of the Cast of Geeks was a landmark show in that I remembered to hit record this week. This week covered affiliate marketing tattoos, how to migrate from Outlook to Gmail, and the usage of DB on Twitter.

Now this is a tattoo!

Also, death of the newspaper, legalizing marijuana, how to get pop-up alters for Remember the Milk, and the affiliate program Missy Ward is going to starting managing for charity in March.

Shawn … Not sure if you are a Firefox user, but there is a great plugin from LifeHacker.com called Better Gmail.

I always hated having to have the mail & calendar tabs open in order to get those popup reminders of scheduled events. Better Gmail allows you to have them both in the same tab and you’ll get the reminders.

It has other cool features too. Worth checking out.

Good call, Joe. Just to add on to your comment (and I'm sure you know this since we listen to all the same shows!) about the excellent BetterGMail plugin, the author of that was also the head editor of Lifehacker since its creation.

She has a ton of other "Better" plugins for things like Google Reader, Amazon, YouTube, etc… all are tremendous and worth a try if you use a site very often.

Gina Trapani is definitely one of my geek heroes…

Oh, and here's her new blog: http://smarterware.org/

Great stuff if you're on the heavy tech/geek side.

Thanks Joe – I've been using Chrome, but the utility of email is more important to me than the browser I'm using.

Thanks for mentioning ContentRobot (and all the good things you had to say about us). We actually had considered creating our own customizable theme(s), and your discussion pushed us to put it as a firm todo on our project list!

<3 Jim for the Jay & Silent Bob reference.

Re: IM – Digsby uses way less resources than Trillian. I really like it.
