Secure Your Brand on Social Media Sites

by Shawn Collins on April 18, 2009

This week on the Brandmouthing podcast, I talk about securing your brand identify on the key social media sites.

Consistency is key, so you’ll want to use the same name across all of the big social media sites.

I messed up there and built presences in the past with random names in places like Flickr, MySpace, and Tumblr. Learn from my mistakes.

These days, if you can’t get the name on Twitter that you want, you’d might as well create a different brand identify that is available, and go with it everywhere else.

But what’s the next Twitter? Use the social media name checking tools out there to see if your brand is available, and then go grab it everywhere.

Also, http://namechk.com. Not sure about the overlap but it never hurts to double check when it comes to your brand. :D
