by Lisa Picarille on May 19, 2011

Welcome to the Performance Marketing Association Industry Report, a podcast dedicated to the most pressing issues impacting advertisers, publishers, networks and agencies.

Oliver Roup joined host Lisa Picarille to talk about the Affiliate Nexus Tax bills being proposed in California.

Oliver is the CEO of VigLink. He brings over 15 years of software experience to the company. Previously, he was a Director at Microsoft in charge of product for various media properties including XBOX Live Video Marketplace, Zune Marketplace and MSN Entertainment. Oliver was also an early employee at Internet Radio pioneer Echo Networks and has worked for Paul Allen at Vulcan, for iPlayer at the BBC and for the Founders Fund.

We began discussing why this keeps coming up in California. We then launched into the specific impact of this on VigLink; the possibility of the company having to move out of state; why California is so important in the overall fight against these laws; the overall impact on the affiliate industry; what lawmakers aren’t getting about the bills; the influence of big box retailers in pushing these laws through; what other affiliates can do battle these laws and more.
