GeekCast 8: FailCast

by Shawn Collins on March 12, 2008

Lisa Picarille, Jim Kukral, Shawn Collins and Sam Harrelson attack the issues of the week in the world of online marketing, geekery and politics. Lisa finally hooked up her Skype and the team soldiered through a couple of dropped connections, rambling ratholes and jokes about High School Musical to do a 70 minute show.

For those of you brave enough to make it to the end, there’s an abrupt stop. We’ll pick up there next week.

Enjoy!

DCLK originally bought Performics because of investor pressure to get into the paid search space. GOOG bought DCLK because they wanted more access to display advertising. In both cases, the affiliate marketing part of Performics was not the interesting part of the deal for the acquiring company. I do not believe that GOOG is interested in owning a paid search agency or an affiliate network. My bet is they will sell off Performics. VCLK (with Jamie Crouthamel as a board member) is the most likely suitor if GOOG decides to sell Performics.

Great Cast! This is the first I’ve listened to and I totally love it. It’s great to hear the banter but also learn a couple things here and there. I’ll definitely be a long time listener!

For Sam: A decent background isn’t hard to get. You can get a good priced custom backdrop made with PsPrint
