GeekCast 39: Don’t Call It a Comeback

by Shawn Collins on October 9, 2008

The original GeekCast crew was reunited on this landmark podcast with Sam Harrelson joining Jim Kukral, Lisa Picarille, and Shawn Collins to go over the latest in geekology.

Find out why Jim is sitting by himself at a card table in the middle of Cleveland, which new Blackberry is for you, how to screencast, new MacBook coming, and what happens when Sam makes router changes during the show.

Jim Kukral makes a statement in Cleveland

The thing you were talking about for taking your own pics is called an XShot. I did a review of it at The Real Tim Jones (http://therealtimjones.com/2008/09/29/xshot-pix...) and you can get them at http://www.xshotpix.com I love mine.

Also, it does collapse down to about 9″. I keep the camera attached and just put it in my back pocket and carried it all over Disney, recently.

Jim was not correct about the abilities of Camtasia Studio. Specifically about the part about adding a video recording of the speaker in real-time within the screen cast recording.

Here is a quick and dirty screen cast recording, which demonstrates it :)

However, there are many other reasons for switching to a MAC, but that is not the one mentioned :)
