GeekCast turns 30!

Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:19:07 — 72.4MB)
Jim Kukral, Shawn Collins, Lisa Picarille and Sam Harrelson take on the world of geek marketing yet again this week.
Jim traded his BlackBerry in for a shiny new iPhone 3G, so the conversation starts with Jim’s initial impressions of the device along with a comparison of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold with the iPhone. Sam and Jim then share their favorite applications from the new iPhone app store and what marketers and geeks need to have installed on their devices.
The conversation for the rest of the show focuses on the imminent arrival of Affiliate Summit East in Boston. The show is advertised to take place on August 10-12, but everyone who is “in the know” realizes that the show now really gets going on Friday night and goes well into the wee morning hours the following Wednesday. Friday has definitely become the new Saturday and Saturday is the new Monday, as the GeekCast crew points out.
So what’s an Affiliate Summit attendee to do with all of the networking events, parties, meetings, sessions and dinners going on? Given that Shawn is a co-founder of Affiliate Summit and Lisa, Jim and Sam have been to most, if not all, of the shows over the years, the team shares their tips and insights on what to do, what not to do and where to do it.
And of course, there is more information about the GeekCast Live taping that will occur on late Saturday night (around 11′ish) after the buy.at party. It will be a can’t miss event (if you’re into mandals, geekery and beer).
The show runs a Boston Clam Chowder sized 79 minutes of creamy goodness.
