Welcome to the Performance Marketing Association Industry Report, a podcast dedicated to the most pressing issues impacting advertisers, publishers, networks and agencies.
I’m Lisa Picarille and today we are going to continuing our discussion of fraud in the affiliate marketing space with our guest today is Kellie Stevens.
Kellie is the founder of AffiliateFairPlay.com, which focuses on the behaviors leading to unfair competition and abuse in the affiliate marketing industry. She uses her research findings to advocate for fair trade policies within the industry and provide education to merchants and affiliates regarding current revenue generating practices.
After working on the healthcare industry for nearly two decades dealing with fraud detection/prevention, policy, standards and protocol development, data collection/interpretation and testing, Kellie opened an ecommerce store and became involved in Affiliate marketing in the 90’s.
Kellie has won LinkShare’s Most Vocal Advocate award in 2007 and the Affiliate Summit Pinnacle Legend Award in 2009. She is also a frequent speaker at industry events.
We started off the discussion with how she defines fraud. The discussion also focused on the most common types of fraud; how businesses approach bad behavior; the role of the networks; steps being taken to combat fraud; how the industry can help in the fight; the role of law enforcement; and more.
