    Ow.ly is the shortening url built into HootSuite; I think that’s why a lot of people use it. As far as one person using multiple shortening systems, I think that’s due to third party “Tweet This” kind of apps that use various shortening systems. I know that’s what happens when I do it.

    To add to what Trisha said, I use multiple shortening systems depending on what I’m working with. Hootsuite (ow.ly) when surfing, Shorten2Ping (ping.fm) to autotweet a couple site and TweetDeck (twurl) for basic twitter following/commenting.
