Chaos reigns in our fantasy baseball world. Eric Souza’s Blizkrieg Bombers shot ahead of all of us, which means it’s going to be a long season. CoffeeNate’s Bald Beans suffered the worst losses but surprisingly Mike Buechele’s ARRR didn’t do well either. Greg’s Gorillas stayed in the top 10, barely.

The standings as of time of recording:
Eric’s Bombers – 9th Place, up 10!
Greg’s Gorillas – 10th place, down 4
Mike’s ARRRR – 13th place, down three
Nate’s Bald Beans – 22nd Place, down 17!!!

We discussed who has spent money to help their teams due to injuries and poor drafting. Nate really needs a “do over”… He has bought 9 new players. Greg has bought 5. Eric bought 1 and Mike keeps missing the Monday deadline so he has lots of room to improve throughout the season.

Finally, we talked about the controversial incident that happened at the Rangers/Yankees game last week where a couple caught a foul ball and the kid next to them threw a fit because he didn’t get it. The Affiliate Boys of Summer Podcast is all about 4 guys in a fantasy baseball league. We are affiliate marketers and have met over the years at conferences such as Affiliate Summit: Greg Hoffman, Michael Buechele, Nathan Smith and Eric Souza.

We are competing in the CDM Sports Diamond Challenge, the granddaddy of all fantasy baseball games in rotisserie format. The grand prize is $50,000. There are more than 2,300 other teams worldwide. In our league, there are 25 teams. We can win money by being one of the top five teams in the league, one of the top 25 in the division or top 100 overall.

When the first results came in after Opening Day, we were all in the top 10. Now it’s starting to shake out and show us who we really have on our teams. Michael’s team, ARRRR, was in 3rd place when we recorded the podcast. Followed by Greg’s Gorillas team in 6th. CoffeeNate’s Bald Beans were in 10th place. Lastly, Eric’s Blitzkrieg Bombers had slipped to 19th place.

We talked about the format differences between this game and other head to head free daily fantasy games. We talked about different strategies for drafting a team and how to stay competitive throughout the year. We also talked about how the MLB At Bat App on the iPad is addictive and will help us connect more with the game we love so much.
