This week on the Brandmouthing podcast, I talk about branding a product or service that has no brand.
You know those lawn signs that seem to be in every city in the country with big, block letters screaming “SINGLE?”, followed by a domain the the name of the local town?
What’s that all about and is there money there?
You might be surprised.

These people who put up the "Singles" signs are about the biggest sleaze balls in the world. They don't stay up long because there are a lot of people like me who remove them as soon as we see them, often only hours after they were put up.
Hi Mike –
I hate seeing them in my area, but the seem to be like wild mushrooms – they are taken down and then back up shortly after.
What do you think of cutting off key parts of the signs, like the URL or contact info? I see this often and while it renders the signs useless, it looks even worse than the signs when in tact , at least to me.
