Thanks – I wasn't sure if the background chatter would overwhelm the audio, but the recorder seemed to pick us up pretty well.
For anybody who is interested in a small, portable digital recorder, it is an M-Audio Microtrack 24/96.
It takes a compact flash card to record and it's very light (not sure of the weight, but it feels like less than my Blackberry).
