Co-host Shawn Collins is on vacation for this week’s episode. So, the fantastic Jim Kukral pinch hit once again to help me do a recap of Affiliate Summit East 09.
It was a great conference that just keeps growing. Here are some of the things we talked about:
The keynotes with Chris Brogan and Julien Smith about the concepts in their new book, Trust Agents, as well as Peter Shankman’s humorous speech.
The money raised by Affiliate Marketers Give Back
The charitable aspects of Affiliate Summit
Lisa’s disappointment in the lack of attendance at the Affiliate tax session
Affiliate Summit is now accepting proposals for speakers at ASW10
The book I am writing with Jim called Your Pitch Sucks

That chicken and rice guy is in Zagats. It's well known, cars pulled up just to order all night.
The breakfast spread was outstanding. I ran down expecting to get a bagel and coffee and go to the keynote, but I had to get a nice plate and sit. Got to meet a few people that way too.
Do you know the name of the place – I can't find it.
Wish I did. I remember hearing stories about that cart a few years ago and this was the first time I tried it. Tasty stuff, and hits the spot at 4 am when you're leaving the bar from around the corner.
I don't know the name of it but it's got a great following as the 53rd & 6th Halal Cart here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/53rd-and-6th-halal-cart-n…
Whoops.. found it: http://www.53rdand6th.com/
Nice – thanks. I am definitely back there during ad:tech. You in, Missy?
As long as they serve fish or vegetables, I'm in… I wouldn't eat anything else.
When will the podcasts of Affiliate Summit 2009 East be posted? The previous ones have helped me so much in learning this business.
The keynotes will be up soon – we haven't decided if all the others will be posted publicly
I hope you do put the rest of them up , it would be nice to see the videos too, I'm currently unable to attend affiliate summit yet, I hope too soon though.
The information is so valuable I would even be willing to pay for the material. Maybe something to consider.
I appreciate it, but we don't want to get into the business of selling DVDs and the like.
The only reason we invest in recording the sessions is to accommodate attendees that could not make them – it's intended to be an exclusive perk.
Just listened to the show – nice recap.
As far as rebranding the advertising tax to get more attention and investment from the community, how about the anti-entrepreneur tax?
Jim – if you haven't read Words That Work by Frank Luntz, you should check it out.
Among the interesting items in there is his telling of the rebranding of the estate, or inheritance, tax as the "death tax".
