Shawn .. As you know we are in the same boat regarding selling a house. We still have our belongings there, but it is essentially unoccupied. I have contemplated doing a strong social media campaign, including video, on behalf of my realtor … But I can’t shake the feeling that it would be an invitation to “Come get my stuff!”

For years now I have been pushing my friend who is listing the house to develop strong online tactics in her business. Realtors who are tightly connected to the communities both virtual and real life will definitely get the most traffic in the long run. A podcast about area events & attractions, video templates for house showings, Facebook page and a ranking blog … these should all be basic services for top realtors.

Want a house in Atlanta instead of Austin?

Hey Joe -

But if the listing is out there, do you think more marketing would add some liability?

It’s interesting to see how a lot of unrelated queries, related to things like restaurants and other businesses in my town, are resulting in Google traffic to the site.

Makes me want to get into real estate and leverage social media.

One of the attractions of Austin is the lack of state income tax.
