August 2012

Episode 2 of the second season of the Sports AffCast saw the team down one as Brent was still recovering from a rough weekend and from the Boston Red Sox sell off of all remaining high priced talent.   Jason and I took the opportunity to cover a ton of topics in just over 30 minutes.

  • Jason’s sabbatical – he’s got a new 3 month old son and he’s back in the game and looking to help ShareASale affiliates get paid.
  • Wade’s new role – running the affiliate programs for the NFL, NHL, NBA, NASCAR and ESPN on PepperJam
  • The 2012 College Football Season is underway!
  • The NFL Season is opening in just under a week (Wednesday September 5th as the Cowboys take on the Giants)
  • Jason updated on what Google is looking for (stop buying links, provide useful well written content)
  • Wade added some advice on the importance of social media like Twitter accounts, Google + and Facebook Pages.

Jason broke out his advice on first 3 steps for new affiliates getting started:

  • Get a domain – Jason recommends BustaName.com  for domain lookups instead of the big brokers
  • Pick up a hosting plan on BlueHost or HostGator
  •  Take advantage of the single click install of WordPress and start working on content development.

In our next episode, we’ll do a post-mortem of the first weeks of football, and preview NHL Hockey and the MLB Pennant Races.

Trisha & Daniel attempt to resurrect a dead podcast.  And win!

In this installment, the first on QAQN, Daniel plays a supporting role while Trisha goes for Oscar gold as host of Affiliate Marketing Fanatics.  Former co-host Mike Buechele is mentioned, as is an update to what Trisha’s been up to lately in the affiliate marketing world.  Our hosts discuss the positive ROI they got from attending Affiliate Summit East 2012 in New York and some recent knee-jerk reactions by affiliate managers that are false, and developments in the affiliate nexus tax in California and Pennsylvania that are true.
